News: Black oscar winners equal to overall black population

Blacks are 12.6% of the American population, and 10% of Oscar nominations since 2000 have gone to black actors. But just 3% of nominations have gone to their Hispanic peers (16% of the population), 1% to those with Asian backgrounds, and 2% to those of other heritage.

How interesting! Why is it that only Blacks are discussed when we speak of the whitewashing of Hollywood, when they're actually in line with the overall black population? Why is it that blacks (and white SJWs) marginalise Asians and Hispanics?

Interesting, not shocking, but interesting. I always find it odd when people instantly say that black people are underrepresented in Hollywood or that Hollywood is whitewashed. Like it or not, the majority of the nation is white... You're not going to have Hollywood have a member of each race for every white person without it looking completely ridiculous and unrealistic.

EDIT: Not saying there aren't issues, at all. But, I think it does get skewed more than it is.

All of these articles (that I found only on the first page of news) are either centered around Asians/Hispanics OR mention them along with other poC.

The media rampage was almost exclusively centred around Black people and not Hispanics or Asians. You linking a few articles mentioning Asians/Hispanics means nothing.

Blacks aren't the only ones being discussed. OscarSoWhite is about MINORITY representation (including LGBT and women at the Oscars), not black representation. I don't know where you guys keep getting this idea that blacks are the only ones complaining about this.

Yall think it's just black people complaining just because you see a few black celebs and black ATRLers talking about representation for THEIR community, but you don't care enough about equal representation to actually look into the topic and see what it's actually about. You just want to sit on here and complain about black people calling a spade a spade. 10 seconds of research on Google or even Twitter would show you that's not the case.
