There's bigger problems in the black community than this type of recognition
you are right, but arent those problems and this oscar thing symptoms of the same disease? So isnt fighting one essentially the same as fighting the other?
If these desperate blacks want oscars so badly, then they should just do what she did and play a slave. That's literally the only times they award black people, which is why I don't understand why blacks hold this award show in such high regard.

I'm glad so many people are taking a stand, but I think the focus is put in the wrong place. The Academy is a reflection of the film industry, not the other way around. The Academy is an easy symbol to blame, but it's attacking the symptoms of a disease instead of the cause. Like Viola said in her Emmy speech, you can't win awards for roles that simply aren't there. Going after the Academy isn't going to change the way studios operate and how directors and producers cast roles.
Do Lupita really think she deserve some nomination or something?
Sorry Lupita, but even if you are nominated, you are not going to win, especially when JLAW is nominated, & she is of course, going to win!

Girrrrrllll this can be taken so offensively. I'd reword this post.
Sarcasm doesn't reflect well when discussing a serious topic.
