I personally feel it is their least unique album, if anything. It sounds like any indie rock band could make this record. I'm glad it was Cage, but it isn't particularly a "Cage the Elephant" sounding record.
That isn't to say I don't like the album, I do! I live for Punchin' Bag, That's Right, Cold Cold Cold and Portuguese Knife Fight.

I mean yeah some of their tracks have stronger pop tinges like Ain't No Rest For The Wicked and Cigarette Daydreams but compare Melophobia to TMIP and you can see TMIP is way more accessible to casual listeners.
