Whether it's hanging, stoning or throwing people off a roof, this isn't true. Gay people are still executed by governments in many countries, including the one I was born in (Iran).

And I'm SURE that historic punishments for it have been much worse in these countries.

It's quite common among many adult Arab men to have sex with young boys and still remain straight. This practice is reminiscent of the pederastic practices of ancient Greece. They have a totally different notion of homosexuality there. Men have sex with men only because of the constraints Islamic society places on interactions between men and women and not because they are necessarily gay. Contrary to popular belief, the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, is a gay haven. It's probably the only region in the world where a gay man can easily get several hot straight Arab men to have sex with him. Just don't get caught in the act or else...

It's pretty ironic actually, but I understand exactly what you're saying. In American culture, it would be akin to prison mates having sex with each other or raping out of control. Most men in prison are not homosexual, but they will commit homosexual acts for other reasons. There's an understood moral code I guess between them as to what constitutes gay men from sexual acts I assume.

Of course, that's how it works. In Turkish military if you get caught engaging in gay sex, bottom gets expelled from military and he can never get a job in society as his papers says he was fired from military service, you can't get a job without officially completing your military service, now whereas the top in sexual act only gets a few days of night shift as punishment. Welcome to ME.
