As an outsider to US politics, I cannot fathom why people seem to detest Hillary Clinton with so much vehemence and vitriol.

Yes she isn't as personable as Bernie Sanders, and maybe not as inspiring either, but she's still a smart, articulate and strong woman, and I hardly think her presidency would see America's end.

Some Bernie supporters are even saying they'd rather Trump was elected president than Clinton, their justification for this bizarre and illogical stance being that Hillary is 'corrupt' because she accepts donations from Wall Street, and 'inconsistent' because of her 'flip-flopping' on various issues.

Well firstly, every candidate save for Bernie Sanders accepts donations from pretty well all sources... nothing about Hillary's campaign is more corrupt or abnormal than the vast majority of presidential candidates throughout history, including Obama. Secondly, while her views have changed over time on various issues, so did Obama's. She may be an expedient politician, but she is also a generally competent operator... is that really the end of the world?

I think Bernie supporters can be truly ridiculous when it comes to Hillary, with death threats, vile insults... do you think it's time they eased their idealism and showed her a little more sympathy?

A lot of Democratic politicians changed their stance on LGBT marriage once it became apparent that their demographic were increasingly here for it. It's not just a Hilary thing.

I do prefer Bernie's stance in general because of his values - but really, what I think it is, is Hilary doesn't always keep her cool publicly and I think people react to that (in addition to her being a woman, of course). Anytime someone says something that isn't part of her agenda, she pretty much turns into a sourpuss and it's kinda off-putting and paints her as stern and unlikable with a nation that already loves to cast any ambitious career woman as a man-hating and power-hungry shrew.

As for her "homophobia", yes, she was late on gay marriage but she's been an advocate for gay rights since the 90s and she literally could not speak on gay marriage in the US from 2009-2012.

Gay marriage =/= gay rights generally.

I think you underestimate how quickly views have changed since the 90s/2000... an evolution of attitude on this issue isn't particularly implausible.

I dislike her because as an African American she refuses to acknowledge our concerns. Instead she goes around doing the whip and the nae nae, and changing her logo to match the Kwanzaa colors like that's enough to get our vote. It's almost as if she thinks we're too stupid to actually know what we need, and we want someone who can chuck and jive.

If you think she's not talking about black concerns, you're simply not paying attention. She talks about the racial injustice black people are facing more than any other candidate. She was the first to meet with Black Lives Matter. She actually made the effort to go HBCUs to talk directly to black youth. She's the only candidate who has talked in-depth about alzheimer's, a disease black people are twice as likely to get as white people.

And the "whip and nae nae" thing is stupid. She was on ELLEN. Everybody dances when they go on Ellen. Britney did the Gangnam Style. Matt Damon whipped. It's not just her.
