Adele never become the huge force Gaga was in her peak. Gaga was an instant icon whose impact left out of music.
So yes, Gaga is the last great pop star to debut.

depends on what you mean.
i mean Adele's videos breaks the internet, Hello shattered the 24 hour record AND first to 1 billion record (in a couple of hours). it's the third most liked already.
Hello has the whole top 10 (atleast) biggest streaming Days recorded for one song on spotify.
her carpool karaoke video is one of the most viral video in years, having more than 15 million views its first day.
her WHOLE tour sold out within minutes, bar some vip packages, millions of people were queueing for hours to get a ticket. it caused a WW internet meltdown in social media.
her live in Concert special was viewed by 11,5 million people, no other current artist were even remotely Close to have that.
but yeah, all this are basically related to sales/popularity. Gaga was of course a more talked about phenomenon back in the TFM Days, much because of her outfits.
but i and alot of the GP sees that more as a gimmick, and her follow-up albums flopped (in comparison).
Adele has proved she's in it for the long haul and have success beyond what Gaga ever achieved.
