Personally I would hate for anyone to propose to me like this in an over the top public setting, I hate being put on the spot in front of others and being focussed on by strangers.
I would hate this, but to each his own, I guess. It appears very risky to me. If only one bigot was around, one of the best moments of your life could get devastated.
