Big ratings and a Golden Globe have resulted in another early renewal for Fox’s flagship drama series Empire. Fox TV Group chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden announced the third season pickup for the show at the top of the network’s TCA presentation. The size of the order, expected again to be less than full-season 22, has not been specified. Empire produced 12 episodes in Season one and 18 in Season two.

It's so frustrating because the first season is actually pretty amazing and captivating. But the show went completely off the rails after Lucious found out he's not sick. That's where it all started becoming a huge ass mess. Truly a shame. This show could have done WONDERS.
I can't see this surviving until five seasons. Season 2 is ridiculous and it's not even finished. The story already went to ****, it cannot last 3 more seasons lol. The backlash will be real. 2 is more than enough milk. This should honestly end with season 3 being the finale and end with some dignity, but you know how $$$ talks.
I don't hate it, but the spark that it had is missing..too many cameos..jumping the shark with character pov's..it was a mess..but I still watch it because the music is sometimes good..and looking at Jamal and Andre is a plus..and of course Cookie and Luscious' nonsense.
As a person who was completely obsessed with season 1, I can tell Lee ruined the show. I haven't even watched the second mid season finale and I am wondering if I should since everything has been a huge disaster with a cameo in every single episode and the poor development of the characters this season has been a turn off.

I agree with all of this. The magic isn't there anymore.
Season 2 was HORRIBLE. I watched the first 3 episodes and lost interest immediately. They're trying to do way too much and it's just messy. The plot is unfollowable. They're so lucky Taraji is winning awards or this show would be cancelled by now.
