And if we're talking about how Hollywood needs to do better with casting, then them not speaking is the issue. "They aren't obligated to" but Kerry Washington and Viola Davis can't get through an interview without being asked about diversity so I guess they are obligated to? Diversity isn't just a PoC issue. And I'm sorry to use just black women as examples. But Kerry and Viola speaking out isn't going to change anything because they don't carry that power. When you only ask PoC about diversity it creates a narrative that makes it seems like it's their fault or something only they can change.
So no white people aren't obligated to speak out about diversity. But we'll be having these conversations forever until they do and until those who have the power to change it, change it. But they won't because it isn't their issue.
I dont know. Probably won't change until we all have brown skin and curly hair.
