I was hoping for closure, fulfillment, I don't know that I got that. But I mean the whole season was supposed to be "psychological" and I think the ending goes hand in hand with that. Still I think it felt underwhelming. I'm literally sat here trying to think of something good to say before just coming out saying it was a disappointing finale for me, but overall a great season. It would've been even better had it ended on a better note, and unless the theme for next year is something that reels in viewers, I don't see this show having much of a life after season 6 if this is what they're going to offer viewers. The story was quite well developed throughout. It's just the ending that feels rushed, and maybe when they went into Hotel they didn't quite know how it would end. It's just a little annoying because this 2nd half was so good, and this episode brought down this season.
I think in terms of quality
Asylum > Murder House > Hotel > Coven > Freak Show
Had this of wrapped up better Hotel would've came before Murder House
But my own personal ranking and final ranking is (from best to least favorite)
Asylum > Hotel > Murder House > Coven > Freak Show
The only reason in my own personal ranking Hotel is higher than Murder House is because my own fave was in it, and I had more intrigue and reason to love and continue to watch this season, ahead of the others, Asylum still is superior, simply because it is exactly what I want from this show, and exactly the type of horror I personally enjoy.
Overall great season, mediocre moments, with some cringe-worthy acting and writing at times (around 2 filler episodes, and unfortunately the finale was one maybe that's just because I hated Devil's Night and this was somewhat that all over again), Gaga blew me away, and if next season is promising I hope she returns. Denis, Kathy, Sarah all did wonderful jobs. Gaga was truly the only newbie that shined here I cannot say the same for the others, and maybe that was because she was given the most time to develop, and the better writing, but if anything I've taken away from this season is that Gaga earned her spot in the long list of great actors who have come and gone throughout the seasons, and definitely deserves her offer to come back for season 6 (although I do not think Gaga will return, on her own terms, as the way Ryan has recently speaking, it as though he knows this was her first acting gig, and it doesn't sound like she has given him a straight answer, or she has and it's a no. I think she'll move on from this experience, and if she continues down the path of acting she'll branch out rather then stay under Ryan's wing, I genuinely think she doesn't want to do next season, not because it was a bad experience, but because it was an amazing one and has inspired her to do even more with her talent)
Please discard Cheyenne, Wes, Chloe and Matt Bomer. They brought this show for me. They aren't bad actors, they just don't fit this show in my personal opinion.
How did you guys interpret Gaga's ending, was it that she found a man, that she intended to kill who she would leave Mr. March for and spend the rest of her ghostly life with because he was so handsome?

I hope my post doesn't come across as negative.
Because their were some truly great moments in the finale.
Liz's moments were great, when she went into the office to take over Will's empire, and everybody has to listen to her. Liz's
death
I think was done really beautifully, although cut short a bit, the music fit so right, and it felt powerful the exchange between The Countess and Liz.
The fact that Lily came back, all really great moments.
But a fair amount was filled with stuff that felt out of place, and simply put to tie up the story in a rushed kind of way, and things I truly didn't care about, and was left feeling to attachment to this end. Which was the unfortunate part.
I also can't tell if the Jawline for days thing is like cute and I actually think it's funny and witty, or it's one of those things that has run dry. Like Gretchen in Mean Girls trying to make fetch happen, and it just won't happen. But honestly the first time I heard it I thought it was great, but I don't know why we needed to hear it 3 times, and for the whole season to end on a line that Gaga created.
But I think Gaga's ending was perfect. And I did enjoy the final line and how it was a throwback to episode 1. It kind of showed how far she had come.

I just read your comments.
C/H/A/N/E/L saying "This is like The Final Girl(s)" a thousand times
It was a good episode. I'm kinda glad this season is over.

This show has run it's course, the writing is unbearable at this point. Ryan has proven so many times now that he is incapable of running a show. The finale was boring and gave little conclusion and/or interesting things, much like most episodes in the last two seasons. Five good episodes out of 12 is just...

It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience seeing my favorite fave who has been with me through so much go through this incredible transformation, getting praise and winning a Golden Globe for it. Being able to see Gaga on TV once a week was a blessing. From the announcement tweet to the last shot of the season. I loved it and I hope you will get to experience it with your faves one day, truly.
That being said, this season was mediocre at best. I was not that sold on the concept for this season but I was like "**** it, let's go with it". It started off well enough, and I don't know if it was the hiatus or the fact that I waited until today to watch the two episodes back to back, but when I started thinking about what had happened last, I realized that the plot lines were all over the place and it just became a mess. The previous seasons were suffocating with their bleakness and darkness and depressing moments. Hotel felt like the Disney Channel version of what AHS used to be with random ass scenes thrown in for shock factor. And that cold cut ending sucked ass and left a lot of unresolved plot lines. I truly HATED the way they were desperately trying to come up with ways to connect this season to the others by pulling characters and dropping names. The writers were so transparently pulling it out of their asses to attempt a shared universe now that those are a thing and it was just a try-hard, cringe-inducing mess. Maybe when I'll re-watch it once I buy it I won't have such a negative opinion towards it, but idk.
I did like a lot of the characters and a few moments though. Liz, Ramona, The Countess, March, Miss Evers, Sally, all were amazing and I am looking forward to next season. Will Slayssica be back? Will Gaga be back, even if it's at a reduced capacity? It's going to be an even numbered season, so it's going to be set in the past, that's exciting. What is the theme going to be? etc. But they have to make it great again. I'll even take the sucky Freak Show, that even if it was kind of a mess, it was still enjoyable and still felt like AHS. This season didn't.

This was... crap. I've really loved this season but that finale was so disappointing. No closure, nothing. Nothing climatic happened. Last week should have been the finale, it was actually more interesting. If they wanted 12 eps, last week should have been the finale and they could have had an extra episode somewhere earlier on. I'm kinda sad about it. Oh well, on to season 6.

I haven't watched the finale so I'm just blindly posting, but what do you guys think next season will revolve around? To me there hasn't been any major hint towards anything so i think it might end up being Demons and next season will explain how demons get tied to certain people (assuming they didn't do it in the finale)

This is obviously going to be an unpopular opinion, but I think that Hotel and Coven are my favorite seasons of the show to date. Murder House was good, but Asylum is extremely overrated. Freakshow had the premise to be extremely good, and one of the best seasons had it not been for it being so busy, and cluttered. In half of the episodes you have 10 different murders going on, pyscho people babbling, things being thrown, drunk people, and then they throw in a random sad and emotional moment in between all that chaos. It just seemed hard for me to get my emotions wrapped around one thing before something else happened that was the complete opposite. It seemed a lot of scenes were just thrown in randomly instead of having a better, more steady stream of consciousness/plot line. Lots of people seem to think that Hotel isn't good, but it had good writing, and it let you enjoy what was happening no matter what the emotion without being thrown in to 8 different situations at one time. I also think that Hotel had a much better cinematography, and the way it was shot was so much better than most seasons, sans Coven. Asylum dragged on for me, and got extremely boring.
I also think if you go back and watch Hotel all the way through with no breaks, it's a much more cohesive piece of work than half of the other seasons that we've had so far, but that's just my opinion. Plus, to me at least, Hotel's characters were stronger than other seasons. The roll of Liz for example is amazing, and fits the actor so well, as do half the other characters. I think they got lucky and it worked so well compared to last seasons.
I think If I had to rank, I'd rank everything like this:
Hotel = Coven > Murder House > Freakshow > Asylum

What a complete **** season finale. It became so good mid season but oh of course Ryan ****s it up the last episode. Honestly I don't care for season 6 that much, I'll watch it in October but I won't be keeping up with the festivals and interviews.

I actually really liked the finale
Could've been better, but it was enjoyable for me
In terms of finales:
Asylum>>>Freakshow>Hotel>>MH>>>>>>>>>>Coven
In terms of full seasons:
Asylum>>>>>Hotel>Coven>MH>>>Freakshow

I liked the ghost meetings lol. That is what this season should have been more about the hotel and the ghosts not that Vampire junk.
I enjoyed the serial killer diner so it was nice to see all those characters again. I hope we see more of Lily and JCL next season.
Sally only ever really needed a cell phone and to model.
All of the stuff with Liz was wonderful.
I assume we are suppose to ignore that Billie Dean and Sally look exactly alike?
Ugh we had to hear that line again.
I thought the episode started strong but ended weak.
Was the Thatcher School a possible hint about next season? They mentioned that school a lot in this one episode!

I liked Hotel but next season desperately needs better writing because this is getting ridiculous.

I liked the finale.
Hotel was a pretty good season, but I could've done with less John. At least it was better than Freak Show.
