I don't want an ANTi/Moonlight situation happening. She should only release the lead if it's perfect and the rest of the album is done/very close to being done. I'd rather wait until Q4 for a better album than her rush release for Q3 and have a crap album and short-lived era.

Katy has some songs already done She's definitely recording in Santa Barbara that's why the paps can't reach her. Plus we've got a lot of pics of her in the studio in 2014 and 2015(I guess?). And It wasn't for EDIAH Her manager said 1)we'll have a new album in 2016 which means that she has already begun working on It + 2)he said that she will start writing this fall(Fall 2015) but probably will get bored during the summer and start working then(summer 2015).

The question is: debuting the lead single @ BBMAs despite being a bit early for a summer smash? Or waiting till VMAs and follow a SPIRM release schedule? Cause I don't want her to release her lead single without performing It @ a major awards show

California Gurls is not forgotten. It's an iconic song, her most iconic music video, it's timeless, a (summer) classic and one of if not her signature song.

(Late) May is the perfect time for a Summer smash. Unlike CG, Katy doesn't need time for the song to grow on the GP, it'll almost certainly debut at #1 given the right promo, music video and competition, and stay at #1 for the rest of June/July. She could definitely get a 10+ week #1 with the right song.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but nothing is impossible, especially for Katy.
