So in terms of an album/concept interpretation what do we think Blackstar is "about"? I really love the album, but it's Bowie so I know there's got to be a message/concept he's getting across with this album.
Wow are you for real?
Were you posting here just before he died?
I swear I decided to give his album a listen about a couple of hours ago for the first time and I enjoyed it. Not even over 30 minutes later I got the news saying he died. This is ****ed up.
At least he got to put out the album that he wanted. Reading some articles and interviews, it seemed like he had a clear vision for what he wanted it to be in terms of sound and concept. Glad he could share Blackstar with us.
He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.
I'm gonna try to see the silver lining in this: he got the chance to plan how to say goodbye to his fans and it was through this album. Even though he didn't need to release anything to give us something to remember him by, the fact he still made the effort to create this album while battling a difficult illness speaks to his commitment to his art and shows how much he cared about his fans. That's a beautiful way to wrap up an incredible career, and I can't respect him enough for it. R.I.P. David.
