When Adam Lambert appeared on The Early Show this morning, CBS decided to talk about his 'scandalous' and 'controversial' performance at the American Music Awards. They compared it to Britney and Madonna's kiss in the past, and showed these screencaps.




Anybody see the difference?

You just don't get it

What is there to get? It's okay to show girls kissing, but not okay to show boys kissing. IT'S A ****ING DOUBLE STANDARD.

It's not about the sexual movements this time, it's different.

It's Wednesday. It's wrong, but it's still Wednesday. Move on.

I mean, it would be much easier to move on if they weren't publicly making it okay to discriminate against gay men, as if we're obscene. How can we move on if this kind of stuff continues?

We take it in stride and not bitch about it. Adam paved the way for less obscene demonstrations of "gay male" sexuality, like Madonna and various faux-lesbian stars that followed.

It's a first for most Americans, the effect isn't going to be instant. He needed to do that out the gate to desensitize people to it in the future, know what I mean?

Girl on girl: super hot
Guy on guy: SICK gross! GTFO

I'm just saying, it's not acceptable for them to censor it. There's nothing obscene about it. Hell, gay people kiss on daytime soap operas. It's not okay to sit back and let this happen.

Oh, I'm sorry for caring about something and standing up for what I believe in. I guess I should just sit back and let America continue to discriminate against me and every other gay person, you know, because that would be the right thing to do.

It's important to care, and I actually can't believe you guys are like fighting against it. I can understand the arguments about Adam's performance being too provocative, but this isn't right...no matter how much you try to say it is. It's not.

I know, it's disgusting. Yet I'm supposed to sit back and "not care" Well **** that.

That's a good thing you care. By blurring it out, they are saying it's not ok to be gay and gay people shouldn't be seen by the public. And for anyone that wants equality in this 'free' country will see that it's not ok to not show two men kissing.

I'm glad you agree with me unlike these others.

It's gradual though. I understand what they did was wrong. But...

It WAS gradual for women. How old are you? It's no one elses fault, but the closeted gay performers of the 80's that lesbianism didn't become as pedestrian as two males did. It is a double standard.

This isn't about a double standard. CBS would have said the exact same thing to Beyoncé if she faked giving head to a male dancer at the AMAs! In America it IS scanadalous and controversial regardless of sexual orientation and/or gender!
Whatever. If you would like to think that this is some gross act of discrimination, then fine.
But in reality it isn't, and Lambert KNOWS that.

Even if you are right and it IS something gradual, it's still not okay for people to sit back and be alright with this.

And I seriously don't recall women/lesbians bi-curious girls ever receiving the heat that men do in this kind of situation. EVER.

But they didn't censor that part of it this morning. I would be alright with that if they censored that part. They censored A KISS, so it is a double standard. COMPLETELY different.

It IS a double standard because they SHOWED Britney Spears and Madonna kissing on CBS news, and BLURRED Adam Lambert kissing another man. This has nothing to do with the oral sex part.

^ In that case, CBS felt that they would lose money or get a negative reaction if they didn't blur it. In many cases, these actions do not reveal the opinions or views of the station itself, but the viewers. CBS aren't homophobic. But, they're SMART and know that they might lose viewers by NOT blurring it out.
Do people not get that the western world is driven by MONEY?
