However, Carly Rae Jepsen's 5x platinum smash hit "Your Heart Is a Muscle" says otherwise, reminding us that while you may say love's a fragile flame, your heart is in fact a muscle. You have to work it out and make it stronger.

So, which pop girl do you think is right?

When people talk about you "heart" in a love song, they are referring to the part of you that loves. It's a well known symbol.

So when Carly says your heart is a muscle, she's saying that love is something you have to work at, and you get better at with time and you get stronger. Whereas saying it's a fragile flame implies it's fickle and it has less to do with endurance and more to do with luck and other factors.

Both are saying that you have to nurture it to make something out of it. Taking care of it, letting it grow. So by saying it's a flame Taylor's got it right as you can keep the flame going or you can neglect it and it will run out.
