Just a simple question I wanted to ask. Did you come out to a family member first or did you come out to a friend first?

I came out to my brother first, then to my two closest friends.

You should come out first to whoever you're closest to at that particular time. For me, it was my best friends. If for you it's a family member or a parent, come out to them first.

The first person I came out to was the daughter of the guy who owns Coachella lol. I wasn't best friends with her but for some reason I was most comfortable coming out to her first. I think it's just because the topic is a bit awkward around the people I'm close with even to this day. I'm still sort of uncomfortable talking about my gayness.

Friends... it's not like I'd ever date my family so why would they need to know?

Don't feel pressured to do it. When it feels right then do it.

Already out but I came out to my friends first.

Fun Fact: I came out to my sister's bf before I came out to my sister He actually helped me tell her.

I came out to my friends in like 2011. I had a really good older gay friend who gave me the courage to come out so I did. (Plus Born This Way had just come out so that motivated me too ) All my friends accepted me and I felt so free afterwards.

I will never come out to my family though.

I think I'll end up coming out first to friends and then family though I think both will support me.

Family (your parents) are from the previous generation, and sometimes they wouldn't understand homosexuality like the younger do. All of my close friends are open-minded, and I find it easier to come out to them first.
