JLo gets massive praise for her Shades of Blue role.
JLo's most acclaimed role since OUT OF SIGHT (!!!!). Shades of Blue premier tonight on NBC 10/9 c time. Tune in for the Queen! And get those ratings and awards noms u deserve, queen
Quote:
"Jennifer Lopez outdoes herself as a dirty detective on the brink" - US Weekly
"Shades of Blue is a reminder of what a strong screen presence Lopez has really always been" - The Hollywood Reporter
"[Lopez's] presence is so convincing and magnetic" - San Francisco Chronicle
"Shades of Blue isn't just a crime show, it's a whole lot more" - Voice of TV
"[Lopez] is credible in her tough-woman role" - Lincoln Journey Star
"“Shades of Blue” (...) is handsome, polished and occasionally twisty" - Variety
"A cool, sleek and well-constructed ride. (...) It's largely because of Lopez that the show is hard to stop watching when you have multiple episodes at your disposal" - Cinema Blend
"Ms. Lopez and Mr. Liotta pair well, and the early episodes certainly have a pulse" - New York Times
"Shade's cynical Shield-like take on law enforcement is surprising on a commercial broadcast network such as NBC" - Boston Herald
"Lopez, who executive-produces Shades along with others including Ryan Seacrest, is fantastic: fierce, vulnerable and so good at conveying anxiety you may need to take some deep breaths after each episode" - TV Guide
"If there’s any reason to watch “Shades of Blue,” it’s the vulnerable, effective work by Lopez, balanced by the gritty, blue-collar characterization by Liotta. They’re both great" - RogerEbert.com
"The scenes with Lopez and Liotta together are pretty electric" - Toronto Sun
"Jennifer Lopez is not (and never has been) ordinary: she lights up the screen" - USA Today
"It's refreshing to watch female antiheroes, and Lopez plays gritty surprisingly well. (...) Jenny from the block is just so enjoyable to watch" - Tampa Bay Times
"There’s something compelling and worth watching here — mainly Lopez’s enthusiastic and determined performance" - Washington Post
"It's slick and good" - The Globe and Mail
"[Jennifer Lopez] and the rest of the show’s creative team make you care about what happens to Harlee while still making you feel like she’s in real danger. In an age of soulless, sanitized, and predictable broadcast procedurals, that’s all a small miracle" - The Daily Beast
"If “Shades of Blue” finds an audience, Lopez may have the acting revival she’s been looking for" - New York Post
"Lopez is a talented actress—Shades of Blue is a reminder of that" - Slate Magazine
"Shades of Blue is a smart, well-written star vehicle worthy of [Jennifer Lopez's] talents as they have matured and been seasoned with experience. (...) The terrific writing and wonderful performances in Shades make it one of the year's most promising new dramas" - Philadelphia Inquirer
"And say what you will about Lopez’s post-Out Of Sight career, but in Santos she can find a way to be all of the roles she likes to play onscreen: mother, savior, victim, sex symbol. Lopez has played this sort of part before, and she’s good at it" - A.V. Club
"Lopez does a decent enough job — on top of the single-mom angle, Harlee also has a traumatic back story" - Los Angeles Times
"The cast is uniformly good, too. Liotta occasionally goes full wacko here, recalling Henry Hill from “Goodfellas” or his character from “Something Wild.” Who doesn’t love that? Meanwhile, Lopez and Harlee: There’s even a hint of real promise here as well, which may be the nicest surprise of them all" - Newsday
"Throughout everything, Lopez gives a solid performance—perhaps the best dramatic work she’s done since her sole first-rate film, Out of Sight" - Yahoo.com
"There’s something natural about the way [Jennifer Lopez] plays Harlee, no matter how perfectly bronzer-dusted her cheekbones look. That’s important, since we’re also supposed to empathize with Harlee, even at her most corrupt" - Entertainment Weekly
"[Jennifer Lopez is] quite good playing a desperate but sly operator who is trying to serve two masters, but ultimately looking out for herself" - The Guardian
"[Jennifer Lopez is] perfectly believable as a tough TV cop in plainclothes, and she more than holds her own in “Shades of Blue,” the cop show in which she stars along with Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo. (...) It is well-made, well-acted, smartly written and looks great too. (...) In the scenes in which Liotta appears, you cannot take your eyes off of him. The show is lucky to have him, and so is Lopez, who gets to act with him. Together, they make “Shades of Blue” worth watching - Media Post
"Best material for Lopez in a long while" - IGN
"Lopez, who's always had the talent to handle intense drama, does a bang-up job with her character's slow transformation, and Liotta is as fiery as ever in a role custom made for the former "Goodfellas" gangster. The two have excellent chemistry and seem to elevate the other actors around them; (...0 All of these elements make "Shades of Blue" an interesting conundrum. It's trite but kind of timely; predictable but hiding a few good surprises; fun but very serious" - indieWIRE

Critics haven't praised ha this way since Out Of Sight
She focused on this role so much, and the effect is here. I wish she stops multitasking for couple of years and serve some oscar worthy roles and grammy worthy albums.

She just keeps getting better. Such a talented and hard working artist. This is why Nicole stans so hard for J Lo.

She truly is a multi-faceted artist!
The girl has come a long way tbh. Vocally, she has improved tremendously. Theatrically, she's still a rare true talent. And she is also a phenomenal dancer/performer.
Now it's time she finally gets her recognition!
Slay me Jenny!

Then why does it have a rotten rating on rotten tomatoes? She's the one carrying the show as its star. Overall, critics are saying it's not very good.
