Is the tropical/house trend already being overused?
You just know radio is going to beat this sound into the ground until it's way past it's shelf life just like they do with every other trend in pop music.
NO lol if anything people will start using it since JB slayed but look up the iTunes top 30 and JB is the only one with that sound I hope it takes over I was spo bored of the funky, alt, minimalistic sounds from 2015 I want more upbeat songs.

Although he's like the main pioneer behind it due to being massively and notably successful with the sound first, it's been here. like that song about the children dying and the houses being destroyed... "Prayer In C" I think? + Cheerleader.

That's just 3 songs (even though i don't know if Cheerleader is "tropical house", it's more of a deep house like Prayer In C or Waves; honestly i don't even know if Lean On all "tropical house" at all).
There were far more in Europe, but i personally i'm not over it yet. Honestly, i wouldn't mind more.
I wouldn't consider Lean On to be tropical. That's South East Asia inspired. I took a pill in Ibiza and Sorry are the only tropical songs I can think of.
Cheerleader doesn't count. It's literally a song from Jamaica by a Jamaican artist
It hasn't been used that much tbh, at least not yet. Tove's coming through though this year and I'm sure she'll have maybe one or two tracks that are within a similar vein if 'Influence' is anything to judge by
