I wouldn't rule the possibilty out that in this very big group of people could have also been those who live here for a few generations. When you do something like this, it needs to be organized, therefor you have to know where to move quickly with leaving no trace.
I would just like to know how sure the number of 1000 is. I mean, we know very little what was going on, but we already have numbers?
This is also not really affecting their lives in a big way. They were not targeting stores, infrastructure or anything that may affect them in their everyday-life. They were harrassing women they didn't know. So therefor, there is a possibility that people who do live in Cologne or nearby (and that for long time) were involved.
It's such a pathetic crime and I truly hope that those who were targeted recover soon and the investigations bring more light into what has happend, why and who did it.
