Christina Aguilera Sings John Lennon, Courtney Love Covers Radiohead's 'Creep' at 'Freeheld' Party

Hollywood emerged from its post-holiday haze on Tuesday (Jan. 5) as evidenced by a star-studded party hosted by producer-musician Linda Perry and honoring the film Freeheld.

The event took place at private club Community, aka No Name, in Los Angeles' Fairfax district and was attended by the movie's star Ellen Page, actor Tobey Maguire, Perry's wife Sara Gilbert, sisters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson (the latter with husband Evan Ross), Jakob Dylan, radio personality Michael Des Barres, scenester Rodney Bingenheimer and Courtney Love, who arrived clutching the arm of daughter Frances Bean Cobain. (The Perry-penned song from the movie, called "Hands of Love," is vying for an Oscar nomination in the best original song category.)

Perry brought several performer friends to the stage including Ian Astbury of The Cult, who sang David Bowie's "Moonlight Daydream" and The Doors' "Break On Through" in quick succession; Juliette Lewis, who delivered a fierce cover of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap;" and Love, who, after remarking "I feel like I'm on American Idol or something," wowed with a version of Radiohead's "Creep." Perry then joked that Love "always talks about how she really wants to be a lesbian but she doesn't want to eat p---y," to which Love replied, "I'll try it soon."

Perry also took a turn at the microphone to belt some Led Zeppelin and apologize for Miley Cyrus' absence. "Miley wanted to be here but couldn't make it back from Australia in time, so she says hi," Perry explained of the "Hands of Love" singer. But laughs aside, it was Christina Aguilera's pipes that stole the show. Remarking that she had been suffering from the flu, Perry's longtime friend and collaborator simply slayed on a sparse and powerful rendition of the John Lennon solo song, "Mother," which she called one of her "all-time favorites."
