NYP: Adele’s ‘25’ sales make Taylor look like a nobody

British singer Adele sold 7.44 million copies of “25” last year, according to Nielsen SoundScan charts. Adele’s sales figures are double what Taylor Swift sold in 2014, with 3.66 million copies.
Adele’s “25” was the best- selling album since Usher’s “Confessions” in 2004 and is the first album to spend its initial six weeks at the top of the charts — a feat not achieved since another British singer, Susan Boyle, released “I Dreamed a Dream” in 2009.
Adele sold another 363,000 units of “25” in the week to Dec. 31.
The Music Business Association praised Adele’s achievement in a statement but added: “We look forward to seeing how Adele will fare in 2016, especially with big albums from superstars like Rihanna, Sia, Elton John, David Bowie and Panic! at the Disco expected soon.”
“25,” full of ballads about heartache and childhood nostalgia, was Adele’s first album in four years and benefited from massive pent-up demand. Her previous effort, “21,” was the top-selling album in the US in 2011 and 2012.

that is legit a pathetic comparison or drag from NYP. Taylor is literally the ONLY pop girl that is even "close" to Adele's sales. She is un draggable in terms of sales lol.
Honestly, the media just keeps adding fuel to the fire with this whole Adele vs. Taylor Swift thing. I mean... Yes, Taylor's sales do seem like nothing compared to Adele's, but Adele is literally the only artist to achieve what she's achieving at the moment. No other current artist is on her level, but Taylor has a lot of impressive feats that this article fails to take into account. I've met a lot of really nice Taylor Swift fans, and I honestly hate that so many people think the Daydreamers and the Swifties hate each other, because that's not the case. Taylor likes Adele (despite the Golden Globe controversy, I'm still positive that the media is REALLY exaggerating; the evidence is not very convincing). And Adele loves Taylor and has praised her on several occasions during this era. Honestly, can we all just agree that Adele and Taylor Swift are the two biggest musical artists in the world at the moment? No need to start any feuds or anything.
So cringeworthy how the media has bought into the stan wars and so desperately wants to fan the flames with try-hard headlines and posts. It's getting hard to differentiate a mainstream news article from an ATRL thread
Why do they actually never pitch men against each other? Just because ADELE sells more than our faves combined, doesn't mean that other people's achievements are less honourable.
Taylor's sales are outstanding, no comparison needed.
I wonder if its local NY writer who is still pressed Lord was chosen as NYC tourism ambassador.
This article/ pitting femeles (by a female) is quite tragic. Its also unfair to Adele because lots of people will get disdain towards her from this and its absolutely unwarranted.
