How "not be uncommon, especially in America??" A country of 300 million ... the likelihood your parents are cousins is much greater in smaller, more homogenous countries

If someone said "MTV is promoting homosexuality with this programme about gay couples" y'all would be up in arms. They aren't forcing you to be romantically involved with your relatives. Their cousins, it's not illegal. This is actually very common in the Islamic community as well. I think that if two cousins have children the risk of the child having a mental or physical handicap is increased though.
