I'm not sure, but once the WhiteHouse.gov petition releases 100k, a government official must release a statement regarding what they will do with the petition.
Signed the Change.org one, but I don't want my name and address up on any site, so not the WhiteHouse.gov, or is there a way to hide you name there too? I hope it works to at least get a look at the case again.
In complete honesty, it's very possible Avery killed Teresa.
That said, to say this trial was absurd is an understatement. I looked it up and jury members said they were intimidated into delivering a guilty verdict. On top of the coerced confession being one of the main forms of evidence and a complete and utter lack of any tangible evidence (being the last proven one to see her is suspicious, but far from enough to convict on it's own) means he really should be free, or at the very least his appeal (which was rejected) should have without question gone through
The timing for this is also quite suspect, to be honest. I mean, when he's in the middle of a civil suit over the false rape charges?
It really kind of irks me that minorities have been trying to get white people to see the light for years now about police corruption, and now because the posterboy is a white man, it's all over the news.
