A couple of weeks ago some friends and I went to a drive-thru restaurant for some food and drinks. A while later, we arrived at my house. Once parked, I turned around to my friends in the backseat and offered to take their garbage and put it in the trash in my house for them so they wouldn't have to take it with them to their cars. One of my friends nonchalantly responded, "Oh, I threw my garbage out the window a while ago" and laughed. I told them to never, ever again do that while in my car. It literally brought physical pain to my stomach to witness how someone could be so blatantly careless.
My boyfriend has also littered from his car multiple times while we're together and I've told him how much it bothers me and how I think it's one of the most heedless acts a person can do. He vows to "try harder" to not do it "when I'm around." This too has been stomach-churning.
How do you feel about littering? Do you do it?
I believe that it truly is an awful thing to do and I believe it speaks volumes about a person. It makes me so sad that there are millions upon millions of people who dispose of their trash in the very place in which we all -- including themselves -- share and live in without blinking an eye.
People who treat the earth as if its their giant garbage can are trash. I agree that it says a lot about their character - lazy (is it that hard to hold onto it long enough so you can properly dispose of it?), irresponsible (the "if i dont see it anymore, i dont have to deal with it" mindset) and careless (they expect that someone else will eventually pick it up or itll be "recycled" by the earth).
I don't really understand how people do it. I understand if it's like an emergency or if there's no trash cans for miles (but honestly I would just keep the items on me at that point). But it's just bother me.

All of this, tbh.
It bothers me a lot when I see people do it, like couldn't you just wait until you find a trash can or something? ugh.
It's really stupid and dumb imo, like why not keep it until you can throw it in an actual trash can? smh I always keep my trash until I find a trash can

Tysm for this. It makes me somewhat more content to know there are other people who agree
