I mean she has a point, not all Africans are African-American, but people still call them that anyway for some reason. It's incorrect. And technically, the word "black" is also wrong too since most people "black" people are actually varying shades of brown.
I don't think she's wrong, though...Saying someone is African American implies both that they are from Africa, and that their citizenship lies in the Americas, yet it's "PC" to call a Jamaican-born English person that's black, for example, "African American".
I don't really have a say in what black people want to refer to themselves as, but I'm failing to understand how an actual black person not wanting to be called "African American" is so bad? Maybe they just want to be called an American (or whatever term fits where they live) who just so happens to be black.

I never get this argument... white people are actually varying shades of peach. White/black are both umbrella terms that are not in the least bit offensive

Why is it ok to call someone Black but not to call someone Yellow, or Red?
I'll leave out white since White people chose that name for themselves. The others didn't.
