Do countries or regions that have a Mediterranean climate tend to be lazier and less productive?
I noticed while looking at possible internships that I'd get paid about 25% less if I go from Johannesburg to Cape Town and that they work from 0900 till 1530/1600 whereas Joburgers work from 0800-1700 on average,
I think the same can be said about North Europe vs South Europe, productivity, work hours seem to be more for the less Mediterranean countries in the north such as Germany, U.K., North Framce etc.
Is there a trend here maybe where you are from? Or am I just jealous of their tanned skin and toned beach ready bodies?
I backpacked across the Med when I was under age and they are some of the hardest working ppl because they tend to be poorer then their northern neighbors.

But why are they Poorer than their northern neighbours though?
Can black people work harder under the sun because their skin type can take solar beams for a longer period of time?
Do people in the polar countries not work because it's too cold to leave their home?
Are japanese people that smart because they have to rebuild their country fast everytime a disaster happens?
A big no to all of them. These statements do not make sense. I can only speak for Spain but if this country is poor is not because people do not work harded and are lazy, this country is poor because the education system is a mess and the government another one. Warmer temperatures make people be more open to other people and less focused on interiors, but don't make them be more lazy and unprofessional. Outta here with the stereotypes.
Sweden changed their regular working hours to 6 hours per day, because they noticed people are more productive in 6 hours than 9 hours. Just so you know.

Eh relax, first example I gave was Johannesburg, South Africa and Cape Town, South Africa. Both in the same country but have very different attitudes when it comes to work, the former with a more intense passion for productivity and GDP compared to the latter that's all about minimal work and all about the beach siestas and fiestas.
Spain is more than 2x the average GDP per capita worldwide. Poor?
Well, if you compare it to "the superior neighbour countries that work to build a future", yes, it's poor. In reality, the situation does not come to Greece levels, but we have been better and poverty in here is an issue.
