Mexican mayor slain one day after taking office

Gisela Mota Ocampo was sworn into office Friday to lead Temixco, a city of nearly 100,000 people 60 miles south of Mexico City.

The attackers entered her house Saturday morning while her family was present and killed her in the doorway, said Alberto Capella, Morelos state security commissioner, at a press briefing.

Mexico is secretly one of the most if not the most dangerous place in the world right now. (even more so than Syria). There is complete anarchy throughout the whole country as the drug lords have basically carved out their territories and have spread so much corruption... its actually horrible. This mayor was probably against whichever gang is in that city and the second she won was her death sentence.

Welp. So the stereotypes are true i guess, sounds horrible. Isn't Mexico the same place where they had bodies of dead people hung from a bridge?

Yes. Its an actual war zone. The only truly safe places are the tourist destinations along the coastline. I have a family friend with high intel clearance who said it was some of the worst carnage he's ever seen and he's been in actual war zones in the Middle East.
