Not true. The reality is there aren't any out "A-list male leads"(Leo, Bradley Cooper level) mainly because "Hollywood" as you call it doesn't want it. Their reason nowadays has become: The U.S will definitely be for it but movies are a global thing and they're many countries outside of the U.S that are quite homophobic/"heteronormative" and it wouldn't be financially sound to cast a gay male lead in a big budget movie .
Edit: Don't you think Matt Bomer would be more successful "if Hollywood doesn't care" . He literally has movie star looks yet is relegated to television roles( and mostly gets them because he's good friends with Ryan Murphy who uses him over and over). Plus there's the whole thing where he lost the Superman role because he was gay ( In a movie that was being made by a gay director even !)
