But I think for kids, it's likely because they idolize their parents (or a lack of there of). Most of the time it's the mother who raises the child not the father, as in most traditional customs the male is the breadwinner, so we can probably see how the child would start to pick those mannerisms up. I would go along and say he also doesn't know any better, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. For the child, it's just "normal" or even "natural".
I noticed in most cases from gay friends and friends/family who have kids, these children usually only have one parent (usually the mother), and/or have mostly women around them (aunts, sisters, female cousins), and/or a father that works too much or is never around.
But of course it's not always this way.
