Eh. I think it has to do more with the fact that the celebrity we know did it, and not his/her brother or sister. In Nicki's situation is that she is the celebrity we know and her brother did the crime so she gets dragged for supporting her brother, whereas, this guy we know did the crime, so we drag him for doing it.
In other words, people will drag the biggest name attached to a scandal.
I don't know if this makes sense. But I am in no way sticking up for this creep.
