Maria can beat Serena, it's all mental at this point.
And she's afraid on making changes to her game to beat her. Maria doesn't realize that it's her serve that is killing her entire game. She can be up-to par with Serena on the baseline, but her serve is so readable and so attackable, and that's why she's always broken by great returners like Serena and Vika. She needs to realize it's all about placement, and not about power and speed. Even Petra can swing you off the court with that wide serve of hers, but it's not necessarily a serve of great speed.
I am always amazed at how match-up works. Halep can handle Vika with relative ease, and yet she can't beat Maria to save her career. Yet, Vika handles Maria with ease, but struggles with Halep.
Same with the whole Karol-Vika-Petra-Maria match ups.
