So true and sad. I knew so many brilliant minority students who loved tech but were never given the same opportunities to study it that their white colleagues were. It sucks because it often means underprivileged students interested in tech have a much bigger threshold to cross if they want to get into that field, and ultimately land a job at one of these tech giants like Twitter, Google, Apple, etc. It makes stories like this all the more disappointing tbh.

The same way you can't do a lot of things from a legal perspective and it still occurs daily.

A lot of the time, white people are chose over PoC because of their skin color and not their qualifications. For criminal records alone, White men with a criminal record are more likely to be hired than a black male with equal qualifications and no criminal record.
