Washing my eyes out from your cynical art-*** pretension; your post reeks of a pop stan that started listening to surface level alt-music therefore believes youve stumbled upon "real" music. Lady Gaga most certainly is an artist and is more than just radio friendly pop music. I think Gaga breaks that boundary as do countless other women in "pop" music (Grimes, Madonna, etc). As for Kesha, I think shes more than Tik Tok thats for sure, I don't think shes of the utmost taste but I see her as a rock star doing pop music moreso than a superficial robot created to make the cheap radio and gay club music shes made in the past.
What separates Gaga and Kesha from the pack imo is their ability to get ugly, raw, and genuine. Someone who is not artful isn't capable of doing those things and putting their vulnerability out there for everyone to attack on a massive scale. Katy Perry or Kelly Clarkson for instance aren't capable of more than what they do, which is craft pure top 40 fodder. They don't provide for anything else. Lady Gaga does. That makes the difference between a radio friendly pop machine and an artist.
