The percentage of the living population of the United States that actually descended from people who did this is less than 10%. My ancestors were not even in America until after 1900 so no I and most other Americans have no relation to the event. However, I'm surprised your reading comprehension is poor since the article refers to native american populations & native alaskan populations. The article leads with the President's trip to South Dakota and a call to action to combat native american poverty (last I checked, South Dakota was not Alaska). In the US - the Census tracks information on both native americans and native alaskans - there are serious issues of poverty and suffering in both communities.

But keep trying to defend your right as a white person to enjoy caricatures of less advantaged populations for your entertainment value.

Still doesn't answer my question though and only fuels to disprove your stance. Why is the focus not on fixing this ongoing poverty issues but instead its on some clothing? I don't have have never and won't were any of these things for entertainment value however I do support peoples right to wear what they want. And again him wearing these clothes still has nothing to do with the poverty issue facing Native Americans. They are too completely separate issues so I don't know why you're trying to merge them.

No one in this pic is mocking anyone customs. Native Americans have more important things to worry about than Australians wearing head dresses. lol
