It's called Greek Life because back when the fraternities/sororities were started from traditions of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Jewish scriptures, Christian scriptures, etc. You studied Greek in college back then.
You don't do it now because the need isn't as apparent but the tradition was kept. Hence why it's still called Greek Life but does not imply the culture is all sex and partying. Doesn't make sense anyway because sex and alcohol, as previously stated, does not belong to Greek culture (nor does college)
