We’ve actually seen quite a bit of The Conjuring 2, thanks mostly to behind-the-scenes photos posted by director James Wan. But how about an official still from the horror sequel? Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to figure out what’s going on with a new spirit-plagued family. However, they are not the focus of the latest look.
Meet Janet. Played by the young Madison Wolfe, she’s one of four children of single mom Peggy Hodgson. In an image revealed by Entertainment Weekly, we see her pale form, starkly contrasted by the blood red of her nightgown, as she stares up in disbelief at something out of sight. Though, whatever it is probably has something to do with the chaos with the furniture in the background.
According to Wan, “The haunting that afflicted the Hodgson family is probably one of the most documented paranormal cases in the world,” and it’s through these real-life events that we get most of our information about the film. The family lived in an Enfield borough in London in the late ‘70s when two of the girls were said to have heard knocking sounds on the walls and demonic voices, in addition to seeing furniture move around before their own bodies began levitating in the air. These incidents are said to have led to the possession of one of the daughters.
