Kanto is "available" in four of the generations, but it's not playable in its story form, and that's the important part that I was trying to point out. The NX is pretty likely not going to be a straight-up 3DS successor, and in fact will likely take on more of the console position than the handheld. I'd bet they keep moving forward not only with the 3DS, but subsequently with more handhelds concurrent to the NX. I doubt Gen 7 is coming any sooner than Fall 2018 - I'd put money on it. Fall 2017 would be the earliest. It's not unlikely, but I personally doubt it.
Kanto's main story + Sevii was definitely not shorter than XY. With regard to the "what's the point?" argument, I direct you enthusiastically to the most recent games in the series, for which most doubters said: "What's the point?" We could sit here and discuss the Gen I Megas, how well they line up with the Indigo League teams already (and that's assuming they don't just introduce more), the Gen I references throughout the plot of the games so far, etc. etc. like those people who sat there yelling "JOHTO CONFIRMED" back in the DPPt days, but I think you already know there's plenty of evidence.
It probably won't happen. They'll probably (stupidly) move on to Gen VII in 2017 after Z in 2016, but I'd like you to acknowledge that it's at least a possibility and has legitimate evidence to back it up!

It's a pretty fair comparison, at least fairer than comparing BW2 to any pair of games that were released first in their generation. Alot of people simply don't think it is necessariy to buy 3rd versions (or in this case the sequels) for a few updates set in the same region. Remakes do better since the obvious nostalgia factor and because it is set in a different region but there are still people still don't think they "need" to buy it. If BW2 was a singualr version it would have ended up in the same range as the other third versions.
The NX isn't supposed to replace anything (just like the NDS wasn't supposed to replace the GBA) but given the information from insiders and the high possibility of the NX being a hybrid or even 2 systems (stationairy and handheld) with shared OS it is very likely that it will replace especially if you take in account that the Wii U is pretty much dead and the 3DS very close to the end of its run.
Nah it was. Mainly due the fact that Kanto barely had a story and the region itself was like half the size of any post johto region. You are able to get through very quickly and the Sevii Islands might add another 2 hours (probably less) to the story.
I mean i agree ORAS were anything but necessary, neither were HGSS and arguably FRLG.
Yes they hinted at Kanto in XY (in fact they scattered referneces to all gens left and right) but they also blatantly copied parts of the Kanto games and added them in the game which seemed to me like a way to get genwunners back without the need to remake the originals.
Sure there is a possibility. I am not denying it but it's very small in my opinion and i honestly don't see it happening this gen. It will probably happen sooner or later tho.
