4. Who Is Fancy? - Goodbye
This guy releases a mediocre song, expecting it to smash because he's pulling this gimmick of trying to keep his identity a secret until it becomes a hit, only for him to be forced to reveal it because the song went absolutely nowhere and tanked even more once people realized how unattractive and ugly he is. And fyi, there are guys with chubbiness that can be attractive, but not this guy. Too much glitter, weird ass clothing, super bright hair that you would find on Ariel. Like, this guy is just a complete laughing stock. And now he has to tag on Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor in desperation for a hit.
One of the highlights off Zedd's album. The breakdown is pretty cool. But Matthew Koma's writing is really obvious here and it's kind of annoying plus it's pretty long.
59. Marina & The Diamonds - Happy
Not really a Marina fan, but I really like this song. I took a singing class earlier this year at my college and one of my classmates performed this song. As a result, this song stayed with me a little bit longer and I listened to it a few more times. This is now my second favorite Marina song behind Lies. I just like the triumphant, victorious, yet calm feel this song gives. It's sort of like the song is meant to be inspiring and healing too. It's just quite a pleasant surprise from her.
58. Jessie J - Flashlight
Another pleasant surprise this year. This time from Jessie J. Her material has been really subpar the past couple years, and she was also incredibly desperate last year when she released Bang Bang. This song has a lot more substance and it's her best single since Who You Are. It's just Jessie being Jessie. She's not oversinging, she's not trying to act like a try-hard mess. She's just being a sweetheart. I hope her next album brings her back to the relateable music like this.
57. Carly Rae Jepsen - Making the Most of the Night
One of the promo singles for Emotion. I feel like this is a dark lullaby at times mixed with Star Wars space like feels to it. But this song is pretty cool and I like the whole weirdness in the chorus.
56. Tinashe f. Chris Brown - Player
The beat of this song makes me think of video games if I'm going to be honest, which is clever since the song is called Player. This song is pretty addictive the more you listen to it, but it also loses its spark after awhile. I'm just hoping Tinashe can break her one hit wonder status next year.
55. Pia Mia f. Chris Brown & Tyga - Do It Again
The last of the Chris Brown collaborations. And I said I would talk more about Pia when I got to her again. Honestly, I think she should take her contacts out. The blue contacts are clearly fake and only an idiot would believe they are real. Her blonde looks nice, even though it's dyed, but I hate the line Tyga says about it. Though I find it funny he namedrops Marcia Brady, since she got some random ATRL spotlight this year with that Sure Jan GIF. Anyways, song is a bop. Shocked it was a flop in the US but a hit in the UK and Oceania.
54. Selena Gomez - The Heart Wants What It Wants
One of my Top 10 singles of 2014 still charts in the Top 60 this year. Looking back on this song, after seeing the success Selena has gotten with Revival, makes me feel like this song was the perfect way to bridge the gap while she was switching labels. It allowed her to to leave Hollywood Records on a high note, and start with Interscope on a nice fresh start and it gave radio something great from her to play while she worked on Revival. And it's one of her best singles to date.
53. Taylor Swift - Blank Space
Another song from Best of 2014 returns this year. Blank Space pretty much remains an addictive track, enough to where I've contemplated reworking the lyrics to make fun of myself when doing Open Mic. All I can say this year is that her slayage is real and she still has 5 songs in the list
52. PVRIS - My House
So, Amaloner (or Vapour, sis your name change is messy) had a bottom 3 in one of his games. Desire and My House were two of the choices. While I liked both songs, My House really got my attention because of the choruses. The slayage of pop rock As I said before, I Need to check on their discography more.
51. Jennifer Lopez - Feel the Light
Considering J Lo's discography has been very hit and miss since 2012, I was very surprised by how pleasantly nice this song was. The instrumental is amazing and J Lo's vocals are on point.
