I was out having dinner with some friends yesterday. We were talking, music was playing in the background, everything was normal. Then, suddenly, I can't pay attention anymore. This song comes on, and it's just unbearable yelling. I couldn't focus on anything but that song, I start looking around thinking to myself wtf is this. I pull out my phone, and it's Alive by Sia. What a completely awful song.

As for the best songs... I love BMF. I think it's a great album opener. Ci introduces her mom with the orchestra and then launches into the confident banger portion of the song. It's cool how Ci celebrates how her mom made her a BMF.

I did actally like it for about a week but it got old so fast, her voice is aesthetically pleasing to me but I understand why others would disagree. She kind of pronounces only half of her words lol

See you Again is grating, his voice is beyond nails on chalkboard on that track.

Tell You Today is so good. The fact that it ends the EP is even better. I appreciate we both like Holychild even if I think we mostly have different favorite songs. Run Away With Me is obviously amazing.

I hate Alive too. See You Again I know what you mean even though the Charlie Guy's part is okay. Never heard the other song.

10. Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique - Love is Free

THIS is the sign, Robyn is in a new era of her career, gone are the emotional ballads and cute hip-hop esque squeaky electropop jams, here are the 90s throwbacks mixing Deep House, Eurotrash, and girl group-isms. Maybe other people were mixed with what she gave us but not me. I'm impatiently waiting a whole album with bops like this. Oh Maluca is in this too and gives us "I'mma give it to you baby, I'mma give it like a mother....safe like a rubber" so yeah that's another reason why I love this.

9. Red Velvet - Dumb Dumb

Honestly, I think the comparisons to Bang Bang are kinda shallow. There's just SO much more to this song than being loud and a mess. The horns, the literal GOAT "dumbdumbdumbdumbdumbdumb" hook that was an instant K-Pop classic. And THEN it kinda literally implodes upon itself a couple times after the chorus because like, why the **** not? The AMAZING chorus where they literally laugh at how much better they are than everyone? Oh also the MJ referencing verse, and the random electronic out of tune synths that appear randomly. There is SO much going on in this song and literally everything is good. Overproduced never sounded so amazing.

8. Grimes - Flesh Without Blood

Grimes released Realiti, which was a nice song but didn't feel like a whole NEW idea, so we really had no idea what was gonna happen with Art Angels before we got Flesh Without Blood, and whew, girl, it was worth the wait. Basically Grimes gave us her version of a Max Martin/Dr. Luke collaboration. This "sellout" is basically a **** you to any anti pop fan of Grimes, and since I'm a giant pop nerd I basically worship the ground this song metaphorically walks on. You can comprehend every lyric, except for the apex of the chorus where no one is really sure if she's just kinda screaming nonsense or actually those are lyrics. SO Grimes, but it's like a new Grimes, a smarter Grimes. I know the song isn't about critics and her perception but I feel like this song has a double meaning about that and people accepting her for who she is/what she chooses to do.

7. Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique - Got to Work it Out

Is it excessive to include all songs from this release on my list? NO. Because she completely erased any doubt in my mind. The vocoder hook totally Eiffel 65 realness, the non ones Robyn is the dance-floor commander as she should be. The magic is how those two elements star overlapping near the end.

This is Robyn's strongest call to the dance floor, like, ever.

6. Fetty Wap - Trap Queen

This song is a millennial's wet dream. It's effortlessly hooky, in the verses, chorus, the bridge. It's quotable without trying to be overbearing with any jargon or slang. IT'S FEMINIST, celebrating a woman as a lover and a business partner NOT as an object. When that random guy said "sounding like a zillion bucks on the track" he isn't lying. This song just sounds like money, kinda like 7/11 does. It's the ultimate hedonist's dream, and the fact that Fetty is such a sweet guy is really just icing on the cake. But seriously, what's your favorite part? Cause I can't choose mine. I think the "I hit hard with my baby-baby" hook might be my favorite hook though.
