Ja miałem z Currents odwrotnie - ich debiut był w porządku, ale jakoś tak bardzo do mnie nie trafił, za to nowy krążek wchłonąłem od pierwszego odsłuchu. TLIKTB jest jednym z najlepszych utworów na nim, aczkolwiek mnie osobiście najbardziej do gustu przypadło jednak Let It Happen.
Emotion oczywiście uwielbiam, bo popu na tak wysokim poziomie ciężko nie uwielbiać.
Muszę w końcu wziąć się porządnie za nowy album Sufjana. Słuchałem kiedyś w całości, ale jakoś nie miałem do tego humoru i za bardzo mi nie podszedł, aczkolwiek jak tylko ktoś daje pojedyncze piosenki do swoich zestawień, to wszystkie mi się podobają.
6. Vince Staples - 'Summertime '06'
What makes it better than other rap albums released this year is great storytelling. Beats, hooks and features are great too, but they don't overshadow the storytelling, rather display it. My favourites are mostly from CD1, which is more in-your-face than CD2 - "Seńorita" for exaple is aggressive and samples Future, "Norf Norf" opens with a line "Bitch you thirsty/please grab a Sprite" () and Clams Casino-produced "Summertime" is somewhat melancholic or even heartbreaking.
5. Grimes - 'Art Angels'
Who would have ever thought that there would be a diss track that samples "Pon De Replay" ("California"), a song inspired by "The Godfather Pt. II" ("Kill V. Maim"), a Taiwanese rapper (Aristophanes on "Scream") and a song that could have easily been on a soundtrack from mid 00's family film ("Artangels") on Grimes' follow up to 'Visions'? The only problem I have with 'Art Angels' is the tracklist which is a hell of a mess ("Laughing and Not Being Normal" should be followed with "Flesh Without Blood"; there are also some fillers, cough cough "Belly of the Beat"). Everything else is perfect - the new version of previously released "REALiTi" finally sounds finished, collabs are great ("Venus Fly" with Janelle Monįe ) and the production and instrumentation is fantastic.

5. Shamir - "Call It Off"
I've been familiar with Shamir for quite a time (since "If It Wasn't True" dropped to be specific) and I was actually curious what direction would he take with his debut album especially after the success of "On the Regular". Turned out that "Call It Off" is yet another banger, but it's even better. It's catchier, it's simpler and those synths, oh my god.
Summertime 06 was just TOO long and didn't have enough amazing material for me. Like he's talented though.
Belly of the Beat grew on me But then I don't like California so it evens out!
Call it Off was kinda meh at first for me but it grew on me, I still think he has a ton of superior songs though
No Shade In The Shadow of The Cross was my favorite off of Carrie & Lowell.
Also, I love Emotion (what person capable of feeling emotions doesn't ) and Currents is great also, although like you, I wasn't crazy about it at first.
Agreed completely on Vince and I love Grimes being here.
I Know There's Gonna Be Good Times is a jam I regret not getting into Shamir earlier though
Całego albumu nie słuchałem, jedynie paru utworów i wszystkie mi podeszły.
Art Angels wiadomo, taki pozytywnie zakręcony album, kolorowy i przyjemny. BOTB nawet lubię, nie podchodzi mi za to REALiTi. Demo trochę lepsze, ale osobiście uważam, że też nie powala.
4. Sufjan Stevens - 'Carrie & Lowell'
5 years after glitchy, art pop-y 'The Age of Adz' Sufjan Stevens comes back with stripped down and incredibly personal new album. This time however he focuses on lyrics and pays homage to his mother. 'Carrie & Lowell' is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
3. Joanna Newsom - 'Divers'
How to follow up a spectacular 2-hour long triple album? That's right, with something accessible. Compared to 'Have One On Me' where 14 out of 18 songs on were longer than 6 minutes, on 'Divers' we only have 2. But of course accessible doesn't mean simple, duh, it's Joanna Newsom! There are chirping birds on "Time, As a Symptom", great additional drums on "Leaving the City" and 'Ys'-like vocals on "Same Old Man". And the title track is just gorgeous!
3. Grimes - "Kill V. Maim"
It's impossible to hate this song! "Kill V. Maim" serves a perfect balance between mainstream and avant garde - weird vocals, cheerleading chant and explosive chorus.
In Time i Kill V. Maim to oczywiste killery, doskonałe I powiem tylko, że u mnie Divers na pewno jest w pierwszej dziesiątce, a czy w pierwszej piątce, okaże się za parę minut
2. Julia Holter - 'Have You In My Wilderness'
'Have You In My Wilderness' is Holter's first non-concept album. Musically it's even bigger and brighter than based on 1958's musical "Gigi", 'Loud City Song'. The progression is obvious and natural, just compare the studio versions of "Betsy on the Roof" and "Sea Calls Me Home" to those from 2010's "Live Recordings'. There are no particular standouts here, each song is a highlight on its own. 'Have You In My Wilderness' is bold, consistent and confident. It's a triumph.
