None of this is how any of that works,

It was literally re-routed due to winds/economics
ATC, the crew, and TCAS don't go to sleep after dispatch submits a flight plan
It's not like they took the wrong track over the atlantic,
and ATC was aware of the new flight plan anyway
this is a non story and is only being reported for page clicks
