JOY | The new HIT movie starring Jennifer Lawrence
Quote:
JOY is the wild true story of Joy Mangano and her Italian-American family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty by inventing the Miracle Mop and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell's previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty, and love.
This is easily one of her best performances. I suppose the rumours about the drama with David O. Russel behind the scenes were true because she stopped overacting. She needs to always stand her ground like this.

What drama?

I saw this movie last night and it was weird. It felt like I had already seen it. I loved it but I had a really strange feeling of Deja Vu.

It's funny you say this because during the part of the movie when Joy's son was sick and coughing and she had put her daughter in the tub I had the same feeling right then and there
I saw this movie on Saturday night (I had to settle for the 10:00pm movie since all of the others were sold out and I was really looking forward to seeing it). My friend and I absolutely loved it. Jennifer was great as usual and I actually felt like she could be the actual, real-life Joy. It's clear that she's gonna get a ton of nominations at multiple award shows for this role. It was quite long and I agree that they could've cut some scenes out but that doesn't change the fact that it was very enjoyable. I recommend you see it if you haven't already, it's worth it.
