I mean, God help me I think I'm about to semi defend him, a lot of people have boyfriends in the moment but they look back and realize that the relationship wasn't that deep/real/healthy and because of that they re-label the situation.
I would say a few of my ex boyfriends didn't really qualify as boyfriends.
