I get paid extra (quite a bit actually) for working Christmas, in my department, and I hate holidays with my family - there's always some sort of quarrel - so I'm all for working Christmas. This is my personal choice, of course.
There is no good reason that restaurants, retail shops, and movie theatres need to be open 365 days a year.
You don't honestly expect me to believe you go to those place 365 days a year do you?
I'm not religious and I've been on callout on Christmas day, but that's slightly different.
We don't need to consume 356 days a year.
Yes. There are people who don't celebrate Christmas, be it for religious reasons or others, and they shouldn't have to be forced to stay home these days because everything is closed.
I like how it's in the UK, everything closed on Christmas Day and then stores reopen after that. It's a good balance.
Certain jobs like emergency services and working in an airport - yes.
As long as they're not forced and perhaps they may be a different religion so it doesn't really apply for them
No. Both of my parents already work crazy hours during the Holidays and I have
experienced them sometimes not being there on Christmas because of their work.
If you want to have fun with your family on Christmas, make another plan.
It's not that hard, and retail workers have families too. Go to the park or something.
