I think there's more than enough non-Christians to work Christian holidays that are willing to work for time and a half+. However, if you're Christian you should not be obligated to work on Christian holidays except for in extreme cases medical personnel and other emergency services.

Are y'all aware there are millions of people around the world that do no celebrate christmas? If someone doesn't, then it's like any other day for them and missing out on a day's worth of pay could be annoying for them. If I didn't celebrate it, I would definitely ask to work that day and get that extra $$

No one should be forced to work on the 24th and the 25th. People should not buy their gifts last minute, but if people want to work on those days fully willingly, then that's alright.

No one should be forced to. But at the same time, you'll get a situation in which an employer does force the employee to work or they'll get fired. So it's best to just close McDonalds for a day and enjoy the day off.

christmas is barely a "religious" holiday at this point though. it's a pretty secular national celebration and i'd venture to guess many non-christian families still spend this time together.

this. at the coffee shop I used to work at the non christian baristas would cover the christian ppl's shifts on Christmas and then the Christians would cover the non christian ppl's shifts during their religious holidays. It was nice to see that.
