YOUR WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW: There are caveats galore this week, boys and girls, with nontraditional retailers, the CMAs, a TV series and even sales from ticket packages coming into play. Andrea Bocelli looks like the #1 record next week—no joke—and if he turns out to be this year’s Josh Groban, the Italian tenor could become the improbable spoiler in coming weeks for potential chart toppers from John Mayer, Norah Jones, Rihanna, Susan Boyle and Alicia Keys. Here’s how things are shaping up heading into the weekend:
Andrea Bocelli (Decca) 160-175k
* Bon Jovi (Island/IDJ) 145-155k
Carrie Underwood (19/Arista Nashville) 140-150k
Michael Jackson (Epic) 105-115k
Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 90-100k
Now 32 (Sony Music) 60-70k
* Flyleaf (A&M/Octone) 55-60k
Michael Buble (Reprise) 50-55k
Glee Cast (Columbia) 45-50k
* Switchfoot (Atlantic) 40-45k
Sting (Deutsche Grammophon) 40-45k
Twilight Saga: New Moon (Chop Shop/Atlantic) 40-45k
* Dashboard Confessional (DGC/Interscope) 35-40k
* Denotes debut
You may now return to writing your letters to Santa at the North Pole. (11/13a)
Conic bras, blond ambition tour, leotards, botox, cheek implants, muscles, etc are also the first things that comes to most people's minds when they think of "MADONNA".
That list just doesn't look right. How is Andrea Bocelli (Decca) going to sell 160-175k when the album wasn't anywhere near the top 10 of iTunes. I think it's peaked so far at like 30 something.
I'm still hoping Britney debuts in the top 10 with at least 50k

iTunes position doesn't mean anything for albums. Physical CD sales still make up like 80% of total album sales.
