Its not my business what people want to do for themselves, if it helps them I mean whatever.
Personally though, I think they come across as incredibly coddling and unnecessary. I think their prevalence is just another reflection of our self absorbed generation trying to manipulate the world into constantly revolving around our need to please ourselves and live in some idealistic bubble. Some of these ideals being promoted hardcore to me are just our generation trying to rationalize our narcissism and make it okay.
Its purpose is just to try and make people feel comfortable in a subtle way. You can't reach everybody and some kids are deeply closeted. It's a small gesture that offers support. Not sure why some of you are so determined to mock it when it's not hurting anybody
In the real world, there are no "safe spaces" for you to hide into when things get rough.
You need to learn how to deal with adversity and bigoted individuals around you (there are plenty of them). WIthout that experience, you'll end up crumbling over some off hand comment.
The idea is good but the execution sometimes comes off as like, very childish.
