Am I a bad person if I choose not to believe in God?
Hi everyone,
I've been thinking about whether I believe in God or not, and I have been labelling myself as atheist for a while now, but my family don't know, I choose to not believe in God as religion does not define me and I don't believe in the Bible either, does this make me a bad person? Most of my family is Catholic but some are very Christian and are committed to their beliefs. How do I tell them and how many of you on ATRL are atheist?
When i got old enough to question my religous upbringing my friends and family (i went to a Catholic school) tried to make me feel so guilty for even entertaining the fact that I might not believe in God in the future. But then I realised that my beliefs are my business and no one else has any authority to judge me for what I choose to put my faith in! So in short, no, you're not a bad person
Imo a lot of religous people are practicing their faith in the wrong way but that's not a discussion for this thread
i think youre smart for making your own decisions and choosing not to believe something that youre forced to believe in when you can rely on science and facts
why would you be a bad person for not believing in something that isn't real?
that's like saying i'm a bad person because i don't believe that harry potter is based on a true story. there's as much evidence to suggest god is real as there is for that.
No, not at all. Each person's religion (or lack thereof) should be a personal decision that no one's business but their own. Hopefully eventually the rest of the world will begin to understand this over time.
