her statement has a nice sentiment, but i don't see why she would zero in on womens' life-bearing abilities providing wisdom when she herself hasn't bore any life? how can she possess this wisdom and perspective she speaks of when she's not a mother? i def agree that women have a special point of view, i just found it odd that she took it there so specifically.

on topik, it is insensitive to transpeople, but they just need to get over it do they really expect a dedicated footnote in every conversation that deals with reproduction? then again i'd expect the "born this way" singer to be a bit more mindful about that kind of inclusiveness.

I thought her speech was going to be epic when I saw her tear up. It was very distant, to be honest.

She didn't make the statement in a way that implied giving birth was the pinnacle of the female experience; just that it is uniquely feminine and shapes the collective female experience in a way that men can't understand.

Aside from that, not every comment that is made in regards to any given group of people needs to account for all and every possible exception; she was just speaking in general terms -- less than 20% of women don't go through childbirth at least once in their lives. Even the ones that either haven't yet, can't or choose not to give birth were likely raised by a woman that did go through the experience and had their perspective as women colored by it. We're all touched by that experience in some way.
