I don't know if there are many individuals on this site that smoke and are currently trying to quit or have already quit this god awful habit. I have been smoking for the last 5 to 6 years since I was 17 - 18 years old, at first it was just a phase to fit the high school crowd or cool people that hanged out together after school, you always think you're in control at first that why you don't cut it short before you get too deep and too hooked, but gladly I wasn't a pack a day kind of smoker I usually smoked 1 to 4 depending g on how stressed I was that day one in the morning and a couple at night right, this went on for so long and I've begun to feel the consequences, I was and still am fully aware of the health problems that will come with such an addiction, yet I couldn't get myself to stop, attempt after attempt varying from 1 day to 1 week to a Month sometimes I would always replace and feel like utter **** afterwards, I've read so many articles about tips and tricks to stop smoking, I even read a few books, they were a good read but I could never muster up enough determination to quit, until one day, which happens to be 43 days ago, the 8th of November I had a slight cold and was feeling already ill enough I woke up at dawn and sat in my room which was dimly lit and contemplated whether to go for a smoke or not, suddenly I just decided not to, I haven't smoked 1 cigarette since that day and I would be lying to you if I said I didn't feel tempted to go for a smoke during this period of time, but the urge and need for nicotine dwindled and faded away bit by bit it's still in the back of my brain, but it has little to no control over me anymore, and I haven't been this happy about myself i a long time, I'm really sorry if I bored you with my long ass boring story, but I felt the need to share it with someone, smoker Ex-smoker or non smoker just for the sake of it.
and in the slim chance that there are members on this forum that are currently going through the same process I'd really love to hear from you guys, are you currently thinking about quitting ? have you already quit? how long ago was it ?

Smoking in general isn't good, I don't see why Weed is any better than cigarettes

But seriously I'm exactly in the same situation. I stopped smoking around 25 days ago. Didn't smoke but sometimes I chew a Nicorette chewing gum with 2mg nicotine when my body is messing with my brain. It's ALWAYS in my head. I always think "Now would be the moment I would light one" and I have the feeling that more and more people around me smoke just to piss me off.
I actually smoked a couple of joints but I never do more than 3-4 a week max, sometimes none.
It's so hard and I seriously didn't thought It would give me such a rough time. But I have a good feeling and I WANT stop.

I prefer smoking a joint instead of 30 cigarettes. Joint is not about addiction in my case. Cigarettes seem so pointless to me now and I hope we both come through.

Smoking anything isn't good for your lungs so this is true but marijuana doesn't contain all of the chemicals and additives in manufactured cigarettes.

That's one way to do it, I'm happy to hear you've laid off cigarettes, that's not an easy thing to do, 5 days until your 1 month celebration, here's to 1 year. hang in there, we can do it

yes, it's true, you can use joints as a substitute, and who knows maybe later on you can quit those too if you feel determined enough, going cold turkey like I did isn't easy, and it's also not the only way to quit.

True, but it's just the fact that in my country it's highly concentrated, it's not marijuana it's the raw substance "hashish", it messes with my mind and makes me trip balls, so I refrain from it, I used to take a few drags once in a while when I'm sitting around with some mates, but that's as far as I got

#Goals tbh, but I would assume after that long period the withdrawals would cease to be intense, and you'd stop craving smokes as frequently and as intensely as the few first weeks or months, right ?

Whitdrawal left in a few weeks tbh, sometimes after I work hard I think oh now it would be perfect to smoke or something like that but very rare...
The smell and taste of smoke always disgusted me I really liked the habit of being by myself for 5 minutes, it helped me a lot socially... I used to smoke 6-7 per day if you only smoked 1-4 at 23 it's like nothing you won't have any effects on health at all

I used to be in the same situation and then also quit from one day to the next. It's the best thing you can do. I don't crave it anymore but I still have moments every few weeks or months where I'm like "It'd be nice to have a smoke right now", and I think once you've been a smoker you will always have those for the rest of your life. But what keeps me going is the thought of how I actually feel much healthier without smoking and how much money I'm saving.

exactly the same, I would never date a smoker, their breath is always the pits, and you don't know how paranoid about long term effects I was and still kind of am, I really do hope I didn't damage my lungs that severely.
