They shouldn't call you names if you don't do that tho.
For instance I was in the underground train sitted and I haven't seen there was a pregnant woman because I was mostly looking on my phone/sleeping/etc. I've heard some whispers but I didn't think it was about me. After that another woman starts calling me names, telling me to rise up and let the woman, calling me a jerk and so on. After I did what she said (not knowing what even happened), she said "if I had seen earlier, I would've told him". I was like, I haven't seen as well, but okay who gives a **** because when you are young you are apparently an inferiority and nobody can take you seriously.
How I found out there was a woman pregnant (considering somebody else took my seat)? A female colleague was with me and saw everything. I was so confused and still am mad about this cause I don't consider that I don't let women stay when they should and I think that I usually allow people to sit down, especially when I know I don't go down in 2-3 stops. Cringey, I swear.

I agree that Women and Children should go first. This notion wasn't just made for the fun of it. If we were in a situation that could drastically deplete the Earth's population (which probably wont ever happen but y'know), for the survival of our species we need to protect the future generation and the vessels in which they're created.
We don't need 500 men if we only have one woman, it'll take 9 months for a single child to be born as opposed to 500 children being born by 500 women to a single man. Do you understand the principle behind this?
Though when you talk about context/ situation, in many cases this isn't really necessary. And when the time comes I can't see myself voluntarily jumping off a ship to save some henny's life.

Stopped reading there.
And again, the "reproduction" reason was just a justification that came later on when defending the notion.
It was placed because women are seen as "weaker". No one really cares about the reproduction part of it.
